Physical Therapist – Correctional Setting

York Correctional Institution (Rotating Facilities)

Schedule

• 40 hours per week
• 1st shift (day schedule)
• No weekends
• 4×8 shifts

Assignment Overview

This role supports therapy services within Connecticut correctional facilities. You will primarily be based at one location, with possible rotation between nearby facilities depending on need:

• York CI / Corrigan CC (paired)
• MacDougall CI / Osborn CI (paired)

Travel between paired facilities is minimal (approx. 20 minutes). The contract is open-ended with advance notice provided prior to completion.

Core Responsibilities

• Assess individuals with physical or intellectual disabilities
• Develop and implement therapy plans based on physician guidance
• Provide individual and group therapy sessions
• Support daily living, mobility, and functional skill development
• Monitor progress and adjust treatment plans accordingly
• Maintain accurate records and documentation
• Collaborate with physicians, supervisors, and care teams

Additional Duties

• Assist with adaptive equipment and therapy resources
• Participate in training, workshops, and team meetings
• Support community-based activities when required
• Contribute to care planning and interdisciplinary discussions

What You’ll Need

• Active CT Physical Therapist license
• Experience in rehab or similar clinical setting preferred
• Strong documentation and communication skills
• Ability to work independently across assigned facilities

• Correctional healthcare setting
• Structured schedule with no weekend requirement
• Consistent 40-hour work week with stable assignment duration
